Raduno Città di Venezia - Trofeo Artù Chiggiato

The 2024 regatta calendar of the Italian Vintage Sailing Association (AIVE) was presented in Rome at the Hotel Mediterraneo. The president of the AIVE, Giancarlo Lodigiani, the vice-president, captain Giuseppe Cannatà and the secretary general Gigi Rolandi presented the event, drawing a positive assessment of the year that has just ended and illustrating the next season which includes a total of 18 regattas under the auspices of AIVE.

Present among the institutional authorities, the National President of the Italian Naval League, Admiral Donato Marzano, the Commander of the Naval Schools, Admiral Antonio Natale, the Commander of the Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Lorenzano Di Renzo and the vice-president of the Italian Sailing Federation, Giuseppe D'Amico.

The season begins on May 4 with the French Admiral's Trophy in Viareggio and ends on October 17 with the Raduno Vele Storiche in the same Tuscan city. The evening of November 24 was enriched by several interventions on the theme of vintage and classic boats and the importance of preserving and promoting nautical culture and traditions. Among the presentations, that given by Alex Mazzoni on the Baglietto Historical Archives, by the photographer James Robinson Taylor on the Camper & Nicholsons archives and Paolo Rastrelli, director of the Center for Studies on Nautical Traditions of the Italian Navy League, who spoke of the cultural activities of CSTN, LNI's cultural organization based in Naples, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its foundation.

Among the novelties of next season, the Vintage Sails in Naples will establish a link between Argentario, Naples and Gaeta, with a fleet transfer from Santo Stefano to Capri, followed by a series of regattas between Capri and Naples, with a final stop in Ischia on the road to Gaeta. The second novelty was the presentation of the prize of the city of Venice - Artù Chiggiato Trophy - which will be held from June 21 to 23. Finally, the last novelty is fresh water: the Scandia Silver Salmon Trophy for metric classes, which will be held on September 28 and 29 on Lake Como.
