For years, Club de Mar - Mallorca has been organizing the Illes Balears Clàssics , one of the most important regattas on the Mediterranean classic sailing circuit. As an objective, the conservation of ships which are repositories of the best maritime traditions and representatives of the most classic naval culture.

The Club, with 50 years of history, is located in the port of Palma and is one of the most important in the Mediterranean due to the activities, the number and capacity of its moorings and the quality of the facilities. On the other hand, the events take place in the Bay of Palma, known as one of the best regatta grounds in the world.

It is currently immersed in a total renovation, including considerable improvements to all its services and the construction of a significant new social building.

Participation

The fleet is essentially divided into two categories: vintage boats , before 1950 and classic boats , before 1975, all built with traditional materials, mainly wood. A third division is that which brings together the commonly called "Big Boats". The established measurement and classification system is that of the International Committee of the Mediterranean (CIM), although established classes, such as the J Class or the 15M JI , follow their own class rules.

The regatta has a professional press office and its own website www.velaclasicamallorca.com . A specific tag #velaclasicamallorca was also created for social networks where the club has more than 10,000 followers.

Organization and regattas

Usually, the regatta is scheduled for the second half of August, that is to say in the middle of the high season on the island of Mallorca. The regatta program includes social and cultural events at the Club which constitute an event that goes beyond sport.

Inaugural edition

The total renovation of the club, currently underway, is expected to be completed in early 2024, with the new facilities expected to be inaugurated in the summer of 2025 . To do this, a high-level social and sporting program is being prepared which will count, as a central element of the events to be celebrated, a special and large edition of the Illes Balears Clàssics , where it is expected to count as many that the boats which have been regulars of the club in recent years and all those who wish to join this event

Classic and vintage boats, Big Boats, boats of different classes and associations are now cordially invited.
