Et élection du Conseil d’Administration pour le quadriennal 2026-2030

Le CIM, historique comité de voile fondé en 1926, premier à avoir promu et organisé des régates hauturières en Méditerranée et, depuis plus de 30 ans, fédération internationale méditerranéenne des yachts classiques, s’est réuni le 19 mars 2026 en Principauté de Monaco, à son siège au Yacht Club de Monaco, afin d’élire son nouveau conseil d’administration ainsi que son nouveau Président.

Les Membres du CIM, composés des fédérations nationales de voile, des 4 Clubs fondateurs et des associations de classe, ont exprimé leur vote dans leur totalité, représentant les pays suivants : Espagne, France, Monaco, Italie, Grèce, Malte et Suisse.

Le nouveau Président, élu par acclamation, est l’Italien Luigi « Gigi » Rolandi, Président de l’AIVE – Associazione Italiana Vele d’Epoca et membre du Yacht Club Italiano. Rolandi, né à Naples, est un physicien de renommée mondiale qui a été pendant plus de 30 ans directeur de recherche au CERN de Genève ainsi que professeur de physique à la Scuola Normale Superiore de Pise. Armateur, avec son épouse Ariella, du yacht classique « Crivizza », il a remporté ces deux dernières années, dans sa catégorie, le « CIM – Classic Yacht Trophy », le championnat méditerranéen dédié aux yachts classiques.

Gigi Rolandi, qui avait déjà été élu membre du conseil d’administration du CIM lors du quadriennal précédent et qui s’était distingué par son action et son autorité, succède au Président sortant, le Français Frédéric Berthoz. Dès son élection, il a déclaré que l’engagement le plus important du CIM sera d’investir dans la communication et la visibilité médiatique afin de faire connaître le charme des yachts classiques au grand public.

Au poste de Vice-président ont  été élu Francesco Foppiano, et Ricardo Albiñana

Francesco Foppiano, reconduit dans la fonction qu’il avait exercée avec succès lors du précédent quadriennal. Foppiano, génois, membre et Directeur de la culture et de la bibliothèque du Yacht Club Italiano, ainsi que conseiller de l’AIVE, est à 44 ans le plus jeune membre du conseil d’administration. Historien de la navigation et enseignant universitaire, il est l’armateur de Zest, un petit sloop de 1935.

 Ricardo Albiñana, nouveau membre du conseil du CIM mais déjà Vice-Commodore du Real Club Náutico de Barcelona et cinéaste espagnol reconnu. Albiñana est armateur de Islander, un ketch de 1937 avec lequel il participe régulièrement aux régates.

Le Français Renaud Godard a été reconduit par acclamation au poste de Secrétaire Général, véritable pilier du CIM. Breton, ingénieur naval militaire, il collabore avec le CIM depuis les années 1990, ayant travaillé avec Olin Stephens, Doug Peterson et Luigi Lang à la rédaction de la formule de jauge originale du CIM. Il continuera à présider la Commission de Jauge. Son bras droit sera le conseiller Jérôme Nutte.

Thierry Leret, directeur de course du Yacht Club de Monaco, a été reconduit en tant que Trésorier et président de la commission sécurité et régates.

Le conseil, composé de 12 membres, est complété par 4 conseillers réélus et 3 nouveaux membres :

·       Antonio Bandini, Italien, conseiller AIVE et nouveau conseiller CIM

·       Frédéric Berthoz, Français, Président AFYT

·       Diego Colon, Espagnol, délégué RANC

·       Jean-François Cutugno, Français, Président du Yacht Club de Cannes

·       Jérôme Nutte, Français, directeur de course du Yacht Club de Cannes

·       Mario Quaranta, Italien, conseiller du Yacht Club Città di Imperia et nouveau conseiller CIM Pierre Roinson, Français, Président de la Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez et nouveau conseiller CIM

Election of the Board of Directors for the 2026-2030 quadrennia

Italian Gigi Rolandi elected as new President of the CIM

The CIM, a historic sailing committee founded in 1926, the first to have promoted and organised offshore regattas in the Mediterranean and, for more than 30 years, the international Mediterranean federation of classic yachts, met on 19 March 2026 in the Principality of Monaco, at its headquarters at the Yacht Club de Monaco, to elect its new Board of Directors and its new President.

The CIM Members, composed of the National Sailing Federations, the 4 Founding Clubs and the class associations, cast their votes in their entirety, representing the following countries: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Greece, Malta and Switzerland.

The new President, elected by acclamation, is the Italian Luigi "Gigi" Rolandi, President of the AIVE – Associazione Italiana Vele d'Epoca and member of the Yacht Club Italiano. Rolandi, born in Naples, is a world-renowned physicist who was for more than 30 years Director of Research at CERN in Geneva as well as Professor of Physics at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. Owner, with his wife Ariella, of the classic yacht "Crivizza", he has won the "CIM – Classic Yacht Trophy", the Mediterranean championship dedicated to classic yachts, in his category for the past two years.

Gigi Rolandi, who had already been elected as a member of the CIM Board of Directors during the previous quadrennial and who had distinguished himself by his action and authority, succeeds the outgoing President, the Frenchman Frédéric Berthoz. Upon his election, he said that the CIM's most important commitment will be to invest in communication and media visibility in order to bring the charm of classic yachts to the general public.

Francesco Foppiano and Ricardo Albiñana were elected Vice-Presidents

Francesco Foppiano, reappointed to the position he had successfully held during the previous quadrennial. Foppiano, a Genoese, member and Director of Culture and Library of the Yacht Club Italiano, as well as an advisor to the AIVE, is the youngest member of the Board of Directors at 44 years old. A historian of navigation and university teacher, he is the owner of Zest, a small sloop from 1935.

Ricardo Albiñana,

new member of the CIM Council but already Vice-Commodore of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona and a renowned Spanish filmmaker. Albiñana is the owner of Islander, a ketch from 1937 with which he regularly participates in regattas.

The Frenchman Renaud Godard was re-elected by acclamation to the post of Secretary General, a true pillar of the CIM. A Breton, a military naval engineer, he has been working with the CIM since the 1990s, having worked with Olin Stephens, Doug Peterson and Luigi Lang on the original CIM rating formula. He will continue to chair the Rating Committee. His right-hand man will be councillor Jérôme Nutte.

Thierry Leret, Yacht Club de Monaco's Race Director, has been reappointed as Treasurer and Chairman of the Safety and Regatta Commission.

The council, composed of 12 members, is completed by 4 re-elected councillors and 3 new members:

·       Frédéric Berthoz, French, President of AFYT

·       Diego Colon, Spanish, RANC delegate

·       Jean-François Cutugno, French, President of the Yacht Club de Cannes

·       Mario Quaranta, Italian, advisor of the Yacht Club Città di Imperia and new CIM advisor Pierre Roinson, Frenchman, President of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez and new CIM advisor.
