Hallowe'en, Argyll, Rowdy, Clarionet et Barlovento-Senda Azul sacrés à la XXXI Illes Balears Clàssics

Le Comité International de la Méditerranée (CIM) félicite chaleureusement les cinq vainqueurs de classe de la XXXI Illes Balears Clàssics, disputée du 11 au 15 août au Club de Mar-Mallorca. Au terme de quatre journées dans la baie de Palma, Hallowe'en, Argyll, Rowdy, Clarionet et Barlovento-Senda Azul ont bouclé la régate invaincus dans leurs classes respectives, au sein d'une flotte d'une quarantaine de voiliers classiques et d'époque, avec trois jours de course disputés dans de belles conditions méditerranéennes.

Les vainqueurs

Rowdy (1916), armé et barré par Donna Dyer, a réalisé un sans-faute en Époque Cangreja et a été sacré vainqueur absolu de la régate, conservant le Trophée Club de Mar-Mallorca pour la troisième année consécutive.

Hallowe'en (1926), le cutter de William Fife III barré par Iñigo Strez, a dominé la classe Grandes Esloras avec trois premières places — un résultat qui tombe à point nommé pour le centenaire de son lancement.

Argyll (1948), propriété de Griff Rhys Jones, a remporté la classe Époque Bermudiana avec un score parfait, devant Recluta (Germán Frers) et Islander, du Vice-Président du CIM Ricardo Albiñana, qui complète le podium à la troisième place.

Clarionet (1966), armé par Andrew Harvey et barré par David Miles, a été intouchable en classe Clásicos avec trois victoires.

Barlovento-Senda Azul (1975), avec Ricardo Zabell à la barre, s'est imposé en Esprit de Tradition, devant Galaxie et Veritas Dolç.

Bakea a reçu le Trophée Féminin Illes Balears Clàssics pour la plus forte proportion d'équipage féminin à bord, tandis qu'Eilean, Hallowe'en et Bon Temps ont été distingués par le prix « Leyendas del mar », qui récompense les voiliers incarnant le mieux l'esprit de la voile classique.

Une régate organisée à la perfection

Le CIM tient à adresser ses plus vives félicitations au Club de Mar-Mallorca, et en particulier à son Président, Borja de la Rosa, ainsi qu'à toute son équipe, pour l'organisation impeccable de cette XXXIe édition. De la direction de course en mer aux installations rénovées du club à terre, chaque détail a contribué à une régate qui confirme une fois de plus le Club de Mar-Mallorca comme l'un des grands rendez-vous de la voile classique en Méditerranée.

Le CIM adresse également un salut chaleureux à tous les équipages, barreurs et armateurs qui ont pris part à l'événement — l'engagement nécessaire pour maintenir ces voiliers historiques en navigation est en soi une réussite remarquable, que le CIM est fier de célébrer.

Rencontre des armateurs du CIM au Club de Mar-Mallorca

En marge des régates, le CIM a organisé une rencontre des armateurs au Club de Mar-Mallorca, l'occasion d'échanger autour du règlement du CIM autour d'une coupe de cava, offerte par le club. Cette rencontre a permis un précieux partage d'expériences entre armateurs et de resserrer les liens entre le CIM et la communauté de la voile classique réunie à Palma.

Le CIM était représenté par son Président, Gigi Rolandi, qui s'est joint à la réunion par visioconférence pour adresser son salut aux armateurs présents, ainsi que par son Vice-Président, Ricardo Albiñana, présent sur place tout en participant à la régate à bord de son propre voilier, Islander, en classe Époque Bermudiana.

Le CIM remercie les armateurs de Sherazade, Bon Temps, Bakea, Argos, Veritas, Ojalá, Baltar, Cygnet of Mourne, et bien d'autres, pour leur présence et leur engagement constant envers l'esprit de la voile classique.

Hallowe'en, Argyll, Rowdy, Clarionet and Barlovento-Senda Azul Crowned at the XXXI Illes Balears Clàssics

The Comité International de la Méditerranée (CIM) warmly congratulates the five class winners of the XXXI Illes Balears Clàssics, held from 11 to 15 August at Club de Mar-Mallorca. Over four days of racing in the Bay of Palma, Hallowe'en, Argyll, Rowdy, Clarionet and Barlovento-Senda Azul completed the regatta undefeated in their respective classes, sealing a fleet of some forty classic and vintage yachts with three days of racing sailed in fine Mediterranean conditions.

The winners

Rowdy (1916), owned and skippered by Donna Dyer, took a clean sweep in the Época Cangreja class and was crowned overall winner of the regatta, retaining the Club de Mar-Mallorca Trophy for a third consecutive year.

Hallowe'en (1926), the William Fife III cutter sailed by Iñigo Strez, dominated the Grandes Esloras class with three bullets — a fitting result in the year the yacht celebrates the centenary of its launch.

Argyll (1948), owned by Griff Rhys Jones, took the Época Bermudiana class with a perfect score, ahead of Recluta (Germán Frers) and Islander, owned by CIM Vice-President Ricardo Albiñana, who completed the podium in third place.

Clarionet (1966), owned by Andrew Harvey and skippered by David Miles, was untouchable in the Clásicos class with three wins.

Barlovento-Senda Azul (1975), with Ricardo Zabell on the helm, secured the Espíritu de Tradición class, ahead of Galaxie and Veritas Dolç.

Bakea received the Trofeo Femenino Illes Balears Clàssics for the highest proportion of women crew aboard, while Eilean, Hallowe'en and Bon Temps were honoured with the "Leyendas del mar" award, recognising the yachts that best embody the spirit of classic sailing.

An impeccably organised regatta

The CIM would like to extend its warmest congratulations to Club de Mar-Mallorca, and in particular to its President, Borja de la Rosa, and his entire team, for the flawless organisation of this XXXI edition. From race management on the water to the club's renewed facilities ashore, every detail contributed to a regatta that once again confirmed Club de Mar-Mallorca as one of the great venues of Mediterranean classic yachting.

A heartfelt greeting also goes out from the CIM to every crew, skipper and owner who took part — the dedication required to keep these historic yachts sailing is, in itself, a remarkable achievement, and one the CIM is proud to celebrate.

CIM Owners' Meeting at Club de Mar-Mallorca

Alongside the racing, the CIM held an owners' meeting at Club de Mar-Mallorca, bringing together owners for a relaxed discussion of CIM rules over a glass of cava, courtesy of the club. The gathering offered a valuable opportunity to share experiences among owners and to strengthen the ties between the CIM and the classic yachting community gathered in Palma.

The CIM was represented by its President, Gigi Rolandi, who joined the meeting by video conference to send his greetings to the owners present, and by its Vice-President, Ricardo Albiñana, who attended in person while also racing his own yacht, Islander, in the Época Bermudiana class.
