Le Trophée Cormoran clôt une édition de haut niveau à Pollença

Le Trophée Cormoran 2026 du Reial Club Nàutic de Pollença s'est refermé sur huit vainqueurs et 44 bateaux au départ, confirmant sa place d'étape incontournable entre les Illes Balears Clàssics de Palma et la Copa del Rey de Barcos de Época de Mahón. Dans la flotte classique, Argyll (Griff Rhys Jones) en Époque Bermudienne, Gipsy (José Luis Vilar) en Époque Aurique, Clarionet (David Miles) en classe Classiques et Barlovento (Manuel Martínez) en Esprit de Tradition ont dominé deux journées marquées par un vent capricieux et une mer formée — loin des embruns de "Problem at Pollensa Bay", mais dans la même baie qui avait séduit Agatha Christie.

Plusieurs équipages, dont Argyll, Barlovento et Clarionet, arrivaient directement de leur victoire à Palma et repartent désormais vers Mahón pour disputer la Copa del Rey. C'est notamment le cas de Clarionet, voilier de 1965 réputé pour sa rapidité au près, qui signe ainsi un troisième succès consécutif cette saison. La remise des prix, organisée sur les terrasses du club, a une nouvelle fois souligné le rôle du Trophée Cormoran comme rendez-vous phare du calendrier classique méditerranéen.

Côté ORC, le commodore du club et armateur du Silver Fox, Pere Antoni Nadal, a décroché sa troisième victoire consécutive en ORC A, au terme de deux journées exigeantes marquées par une avarie de spinnaker. Le coordinateur technique de l'épreuve, Joan Piza, a de son côté salué la qualité du parcours côtier de 18 milles proposé le dimanche, qui a permis de belles vitesses au portant malgré l'absence de l'embat estival habituel — un défi relevé avec succès par le comité de course tout au long du week-end.

Organisé par le Reial Club Nàutic de Pollença en collaboration avec la Federació Balear de Vela, le Trophée Cormoran s'inscrit également dans le calendrier du Trofeo Clásicos Mare Nostrum – Copa de España de Vela Clásica, confirmant son statut d'escale stratégique pour les bateaux naviguant entre les Illes Balears Clàssics de Palma et la Copa del Rey de Barcos de Época de Mahón. Du 20 au 22 août, les baies de Pollença et d'Alcúdia ont accueilli près de 50 bateaux répartis en cinq classes — Classiques, Époque, Esprit de Tradition, ORC et Flying Fifteen —, la flotte s'enrichissant cette année d'une nouveauté avec l'entrée des OK Dinghy.

Trofeo Cormorán Closes a Strong Edition in Pollença

The 2026 Trofeo Cormorán, hosted by the Reial Club Nàutic de Pollença, wrapped up with eight class winners among a fleet of 44 boats, once again confirming its role as a natural link between the Illes Balears Clàssics in Palma and the Copa del Rey de Barcos de Época in Mahón. In the classic divisions, Argyll (Griff Rhys Jones) took Bermudan Era, Gipsy (José Luis Vilar) won Gaff Era, Clarionet (David Miles) topped the Classics class, and Barlovento (Manuel Martínez) claimed Spirit of Tradition, all across two days shaped by shifting winds and a choppy sea — a far cry from the calm postcard views Agatha Christie once set her "Problem at Pollensa Bay" against, though staged in the very same bay.

Several crews, including Argyll, Barlovento and Clarionet, arrived in Pollença fresh off wins in Palma and are now bound for Menorca to contest the Copa del Rey. Clarionet, a 1965 design prized for its speed on the wind, extended its winning streak with a third consecutive victory this season. The prize-giving on the club's terraces closed out an edition that once again underlined the Trofeo Cormorán's standing as a flagship fixture on the Mediterranean classic yacht calendar.

On the ORC side, club commodore and Silver Fox owner Pere Antoni Nadal claimed his third consecutive ORC A win, capping two demanding days that included a spinnaker breakdown along the way. Race technical coordinator Joan Piza praised Sunday's 18-mile coastal course, which delivered strong downwind speeds for the ORC and classic fleets despite the absence of the usual summer sea breeze — a challenge the race committee navigated successfully throughout the weekend.

Organised by the Reial Club Nàutic de Pollença in collaboration with the Federació Balear de Vela, the Trofeo Cormorán also forms part of the Trofeo Clásicos Mare Nostrum – Copa de España de Vela Clásica calendar, underlining its role as a strategic stopover for boats sailing between the Illes Balears Clàssics in Palma and the Copa del Rey de Barcos de Época in Mahón. From 20 to 22 August, the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia welcomed close to 50 boats across five classes — Classics, Era, Spirit of Tradition, ORC and Flying Fifteen — with the fleet gaining a new addition this year as the OK Dinghy made its debut.
